2nd and 3rd Quarter 2007Newsletter.
To our viewers, we would like to open our doors and guide you to the unique community involvement of
Filipinos for the cantons of Geneva and Vaud. Welcome, Bienvenue, Willkommen, Benvenuto.
The Ugnayang Bayan, backed by its mandate and statutes, is the quintessimal development of the previous Steering Committee
created in 1998; its inception was then an adhoc volunteerism with the specific purpose of holding the "Philippine Centennial Celebration", marking the 100th anniversary of Philippine Independence. The celebrations were worldwide and there was a lot
of community involvement in Geneva. The Steering Committee, under the guidance of Chairman Rody de Guzman performed the task
beyond expectations. It became the mouthpiece and umbrella of Filipino organizations "actively" for more than six years !
In retrospect, the community fondly remembers the guidance given by Consul Angelina Catalina.
The ides of March 2006 brought forth a new and vibrant group who met and decided to pick up the pieces and continue the role
of organizer and coordinator of the many Filipino organizations/associations in both Geneva and Lausanne. The Ugnayang Bayan
was born !
